The Team

We work with a wide range of financial services businesses, based in the UK and overseas. Recent experience includes:

  • Advising Prudential M&G on the development and launch of its own in-house adviser training programme.
  • Advising  St. James's Place on changes to its funds and investment policies to integrate ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) considerations and criteria into its management.
  • Assisting major financial services institutions with all aspects of their product development (such as insurance policies, pension plans, investment funds, investment and crowdfunding platforms, funeral plans, savings accounts and so on) including advising on legal structures and the relevant regulatory requirements, drafting client terms and conditions and drafting and negotiating the commercial contracts.
  • Advising FTSE 100 businesses in relation to business transformation, modernisation and digitisation, and also digital-first start-ups and scale-ups on their high growth trajectory.


You will be joining a small but busy team of dedicated authorised funds, financial services regulatory and fintech lawyers whose day-to-day work includes helping clients:

  • Determine whether they need to be FCA authorised and the options available
  • Obtain regulatory permission or, where appropriate, identify alternative structures and make regulatory applications
  • Conduct their business in a compliant manner in line with financial services law and regulation (including the FCA Handbook, PRA Rulebook, Payment Services Regulations and so on)
  • Develop new commercial partnerships and new distribution channels
  • Produce suites of documentation and supporting materials including terms of business, terms and conditions and investment management agreements
  • Design and launch new products and propositions including insurance contracts, investment platforms, personal pensions, regulated funds, and fintech such as crowdfunding platforms
  • Understand and implement regulatory change
  • In communications and dealing with issues raised by the regulators
  • In corporate transactions involving FCA authorised entities

We are looking for an individual with good knowledge of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, subordinate legislation (including the Regulated Activities Order and the Financial Promotion Order) and the FCA Handbook (including COBS, CASS, SYSC and SUP). You will also need to be/have:

  • Qualified Financial Services Regulatory or Fintech Lawyer
  • Keen to continue your professional development, coupled with strong commercial acumen.
  • A SRA or Law Society of Scotland registered lawyer.
