Are you a Legal Project Manager looking to manage some high profile legal matters?  Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for a new opportunity OR a Lawyer looking for a change of direction? We are looking for two Legal Project Managers to join our ever growing team in Bristol.

This is a really exciting opportunity to work ‘shoulder to shoulder' with Burges Salmon's lawyers as an intrinsic member of the legal team on some of Burges Salmon's most high profile matters.

You will be working with our team of Legal Project Managers to deliver project management consultancy, support, tools, training and service improvement solutions for our lawyers and clients to help matters run efficiently and effectively.  You will be involved in the following:

  • Mobilising matters, including scoping and planning the work that needs to be delivered;
  • Working with the legal teams to embed legal project management, governance and structure into the matters they work on;
  • Managing budgets;
  • Setting clear roles and responsibilities for legal and client teams;
  • Agreeing key dates, milestones and matter deadlines;
  • Tracking team capacity and allocating/monitoring workloads;
  • Capturing actions from project meetings and tracking their completion;
  • Proactively managing and reporting on risks and issues throughout the lifecycle of a matter;
  • Reporting to key stakeholders, including our clients on costs, progress and other key matter metrics;
  • Helping to win work by drafting pitch materials on how legal project management can support the delivery of legal services and being part of the pitch team;
  • Working with new and existing clients to understand their strategic needs and requirements for the effective delivery of legal services;
  • Upskilling the legal teams across the business in Burges Salmon's approach to Legal Project Management;
  • Working collaboratively with our Innovation Team to build solutions and implement legal technology that improves service delivery.

You can expect responsibility from the outset, demonstrated by direct client contact from an early stage and becoming an integral part of the legal team working collaboratively with senior lawyers. There is no expectation that you will have all the answers, but a different perspective is what is really valued in this post. A commercial mind-set and experience in a range of business functions would be a real asset.

We are looking for a candidate with strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills for this role, who is confident in their ability to build strong, long-lasting relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest and desire to develop their legal project management experience and help Burges Salmon to continue to develop and strengthen its excellent LPM offering. Creativity and lateral thinking will help you flourish in this role as we are looking for individuals who can 'think outside the box' to assist in providing the effective delivery of legal services.
