Are you an experienced Pensions Litigation Lawyer looking for a new opportunity? Join our "cutting-edge" (Legal 500, 2024) Pensions Litigation Team, where you'll have access to rewarding and complex work with top-calibre clients, enjoying high levels of responsibility from the outset.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Tier 1 (Legal 500) and Band 2 (Chambers) ranked Pensions Litigation Team, part of our wider Dispute Resolution Department. Here you will work with leading Partners on the whole range of pensions disputes work including high-profile multi-party Part 8 rectification and construction claims, Part 7 professional negligence claims, regulatory proceedings and member complaints.  The team acts for trustees, employers and representative members.

The team regularly advise on the following issues:

  • Documentation problems: drafting errors and invalidity of scheme governing documentation
  • Negligence claims acting for and against all advisers to pension schemes
  • Administration errors and disputes with administration providers: Under- and over- payment, GMP equalisation, tax issues, benefit rectification projects
  • Member disputes: IDRP complaints, complaints to the Pensions Ombudsmen and the FOS
  • Data protection and cybersecurity issues
  • Representing members in Part 8 claims and Beddoe proceedings
  • Regulatory disputes
  • Advice to FCA regulated financial services firms offering SIPPs and SSASs in relation to pensions and investment issues

Given the flexible and collaborative way our Dispute Resolution Department operates, you will also have opportunity to support wider professional negligence work and commercial disputes. You will also be expected to build strong relationships with our leading pensions advisory practice in Bristol, Edinburgh and London.

  • Registration as a lawyer with the SRA
